Power Unit №1 of Rostov NPP Disconnected from Network
OREANDA-NEWS. The power unit №1 of the Rostov NPP was disconnected from the network by an electrical protection equipment of transformer unit action. Thermal capacity of the power unit №1 was reduced to 10%t.
There are no violations of limits and conditions of safe operation of the equipment.
On the international seven-point rating scale of nuclear events by INES this event is evaluated as "out of scale", so it is not essential for safety.
The power unit №2 of the Rostov NPP is operating normally.
The radiation background at the Rostov NPP and the adjacent territory corresponds to the normal operation of power and does not exceed natural background values.
The Rostovskaya nuclear power plant is a branch of JSC "Concern Rosenergoatom". The nuclear station is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk Reservoir in 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. At nuclear station two power units with VVER-1000 reactors with an installed capacity of 1000 MWt are operated. The power unit No. 1 is put into commercial operation in 2001, the power unit No. 2 - in December, 2010.
