Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg Handles Equipment for Chinese NPP
OREANDA-NEWS. The specialists of OJSC "Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg" ("SP SPb") successfully completed the operation on handling of two steam generating units with weight of 318 tons and length of 14.3 meters each and reactor tank with weight of 332 tons and length of 11.5 meters for Tianwan Atomic Power Station in China. Total weight of the shipment lot including all the components and spare parts amounted to 1186.6 tons.
Special technological scheme for handling of cargoes was developed by the employees of "SP SPb" and the logistic companies "Universal Forwarder", "Incotec Cargo". In order to distribute the load on berth evenly steam generating units were placed on special supporting iron frames. Reloading of heavy-lifts from berth to vessel was performed by the floating crane and took several days.

OJSC "Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg" (included in UCL Port - stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding) - is the largest operator, rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates by modern specialized terminals for handling of ro-ro cargoes, cars and metals. In 2013 the turnover of the company amounted to 7.8 mln. tons of cargoes.
