Vale Receives International Award for Steel Sector Project
OREANDA-NEWS. Vale received yet another award this year. Our company was recognized at the Swedish Steel Prize in Sweden for a project carried out at the Carajás mine (PA) that began being put together in 2012 and was finished in 2013. The Swedish Steel Prize, in it's 16th edition, is aimed at the global steel sector. The news was featured in the Folha de São Paulo newspaper. To read the report click here.
There were two awards: one popular vote, which was voted for on the website, which Vale won, and another voted for by specialists, where we came in second place. The awards came as a result of the creation of a high strength steel screener by the Carajás team which prevents iron blocks interrupting the unloading process of collected material from trucks to the initial separation equipment. This action generated savings for Vale which was seen as the difference for the international recognition of the project.
