OREANDA-NEWS. Kaliningrad plant "Avtotor", marked the 20th anniversary of the founding on November 26, has produced more than 1.4 million cars over the years. To date, "Avtotor" produces more than 30 models of passenger cars under the brands BMW, KIA, Opel, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Hyundai and six models of trucks TATA Daewoo and Hyundai in the three production sites. The total investment in the development of production was about 500 million Euros. More than 10 thousand people now work in Kaliningrad automotive industry and related businesses.

In 2013, "Avtotor" started a project to create a full-profile cluster of automobile industries in the Kaliningrad region. It is expected to create capacity for the production of a full cycle of not less than 250 thousand cars a year, and production of automotive components, as well as engineering and scientific and educational centers, IT-park and a new residential area. At present, the company "Avtotor" completed the second phase of the complex for the production of cars in full production cycle (welding, body painting, and assembly) with a total capacity of 50 thousand cars per year. Under an agreement with the government of "industrial assembly" the establishment of such facilities is provided to the April 1st, 2016. Thus, "Avtotor" fulfills its obligations ahead by almost two years.
