OREANDA-NEWS. December 03, 2014. PT Pertamina (Persero), in collaboration with Maritime and Fishery Ministry and Bank BRI, launched Fuel Card for fishermen as part of shared efforts to make sure that fuel subsidies for fishermen hit the right target. This fuel card for fishermen was a development of Fuel Card for land transportation vehicles that had been successfully implemented in Batam.

“Through the use of Fuel Card for Fishermen, we expect that the distribution of subsidized fuels for fishermen can be more precise because this system makes one ship can only get one card with certain subsidized fuel quota set by the Maritime and Fishery Ministry. In other words, the fuel card makes subsidized fuels are accepted by those who deserve them. The fishermen can also know how much the remaining quota of subsidized fuels they have in certain period of time,” said Pertamina Trading and Markrting Director Hanung Budya at SPDN 39.141.17 in Cilincing, North Jakarta.

Since June 2014, Fuel Card for Fisherman had been tested at SPDN Cilincing. As of today, SPDN Cilincing had served 158 ships with the subsidized fuel allocation of 288 KL per month. Every transaction could be monitored directly through the Maritime and Fishery Ministry, SKPD, Pertamina and BRI’s servers. To get the Fuel Card for Fishermen, fishermen can open bank account and then register that account to SKPD (Regional Administration Task Force; Maritime and Fishery Agency) to get fuel quota. In the card, there would be registered the name of the owner, name of the ship and monthly fuel quota so that the use of this card can be used by the government to compile consumption data for the calculation of the quota for fisherman.

Hanung explained that afted launched at the Cilincing SPDN, the card would be distributed to fishermen in other areas. “Until the end of the year, our target is we can implement this in Tegal, Central Java, and Lamongan, East Java. By the end of the year, we expect to net 2,400 ships to have Fuel Card for Fishermen.”
