Pertamina Committed to Secure Supply in Country Borders
OREANDA-NEWS. December 03, 2014. PT Pertamina (Persero) ensured the availability of 3kg Elpiji (Pertamina’s LPG brand) in the country’s borders as part of the company’s support to the existence of the United State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
During a visit to one of the outermost island in Indonesia, Sebatik Island, North Kalimantan, Pertamina Trading and Marketing Direktur Hanung Budya said that Indonesian citizens living in the country’s borders deserved to get access to energy similar to the other citizens. Thus, Pertamina as a state-owned company ensured the availability of 3kg Elpiji in the border areas as part of the company’s support to the unity of the nation as well as the manifestation of its public service obligation (PSO) as mandated by the government.
Even, he continued, besides easy access to 3 kg Elpiji, Pertamina would also fulfill its role in ensuring the price of the product is similar to the other citizens in the other parts of the country.
For that, starting December, the delivery cost of 3 kg Elpiji from Tarakan to Sebatik, border with Malaysia, would be covered by Pertamina. With that pattern, Indonesian citizens in Sebatik would be able to enjoy 3 kg Elpiji at Rp 16,000 per canister from previously Rp 30,000 per canister.
“This is the role done by Pertamina to support the unity of the nation in the border areas so that Indonesian citizen can enjoy relatively similar price as other citizens in other areas,” Hanung said.
Currently, Pertamina had distributed 17,166 first packages of 3 kg Elpiji to Sebatik and Nunukan since the kerosene-to-LPG conversion program was started in 2010 in the areas. For the North Kalimantan areas, the total first Elpiji packages that had been distributed were 89,999 canisters since the conversion program kicked off.
