Tele2 launched 3G network in Chelyabinsk
OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has launched the 3G network in commercial operation in Chelyabinsk. Since 27 November the company’s subscribers in South Urals may use high-speed wireless Internet at affordable prices.
Chelyabinsk is the third Tele2 region where the operator started providing high-speed wireless Internet. The 3G launch resulted from integration of Tele2 and Rostelecom mobile assets which led to setting up a new federal operator.
The operator has installed and launched the new equipment, upgraded existing base stations and backhaul over a short period of time. Tele2 currently provides a stable coverage of 3G network in Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk, Miass, Zlatoust and neighboring residential areas in Chelyabinsk Region.
In the coming months the operator is planning to increase the number of 3G base stations by 70% and improve opportunities of the backhaul in order to expand the network coverage and guarantee the high quality of mobile services during load hikes.
Tele2 is offering two new package tariffs to its users of high-speed wireless Internet – “Black” and “Dark Black”. Tariffs differ in volume of included Internet traffic (1 GB and 3 GB per month at 3G speeds), a number of minutes and SMS. All packages are easy-to-use, do not contain any hidden conditions and let Tele2 subscriber use modern services at affordable prices.
Tele2 envisaged different options for subscribers who want to use high-speed wireless Internet but prefer their current tariff. For example, “The Internet package” monthly offers 3 GB for 230 rubles per month whereas “The Internet portfolio” implies 10 GB for 345 rubles per month.
Svetlana Galileyeva, regional managing director at Tele2 Chelyabinsk:
“Tele2 policy is to provide subscribers most demanded services. According to analysts, 3G standard will remain the most widely used wireless Internet technology for a long time. Of course, we do not forget about development of 4G networks. Meanwhile LTE is used by 3 million people, which corresponds to only less than 1% of mobile subscribers in Russia.”
The first 3G network under Tele2 brand was launched on 14 November in St. Petersburg, the second one − in Novosibirsk on 20 November. By the end of 2014, Tele2 is planning to launch the 3G network in Tambov. The 4G network will appear this winter in LTE 1800 MHz standard in Tula. Over 2015, 3G/4G wireless Internet will become available to Tele2 subscribers in over 50 regions.
