Research Centre for Winemaking Opens in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2014. The launch of the centre is part of the European Investment Bank-funded Filiera Vinului programme, the press service of the government informs.
The European Investment Bank has allotted MDL 2.7 million to have the food safety laboratory reequipped and modernized and its staff retrained. The centre has been furnished with the EUR 200,000 worth hardware-software appliance capable to determine the content of micro toxins, ammonia, etc, in wine.
At the opening ceremony, Premier of Moldova Iurie Leanca called the wine sector a strategically important branch of Moldova’s economy, which directly or indirectly engages over 200,000 Moldovans and provides one fourth of Moldova’s exports.
“These are figures that bind us to enhance the quality of Moldova’s wine, use modern wine technologies and train skilled specialists to develop winemaking in Moldova”, the Premier concluded.
