OREANDA-NEWS. Development and production of cars of the "Cortege" project will cost the Russian treasury 8,051 billion rubles. The corresponding amount is in the portal for the state procurement, posted by the Ministry of Industry.

Thus, the amount allocated from the state budget for the construction of cars for the president and officials, was a third less than it was presumed previously. Earlier it was reported that the project state for four years will spend 12 billion Rubles. The total investment was to be about 23-24 billion Rubles.

The project "Cortege" includes the development of a limousine for the head of state, as well as the sedan, SUV and minivan support. For all vehicles it will be created modular chassis and line of unified units, a license to use of which should be later available to buy for other companies. Machinery, prepared especially for the political elite, will not appear in the free market, writes Motor.ru.

In October it was reported that the responsible for the development of "Cortege", Central Research Automobile Institute (NAMI), is going to sign with the company Porsche Engineering an agreement on the creation of the power aggregate for cars of project. Presumably, this is a 12-cylinder twin-turbo unit in volume from 6.0 to 6.6 liters, the impact of which will be around 800 hp.

It was also reported that the production of off-road vehicles for the "Cortege" at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant will be made by Sollers. In addition to cars for officials, it is expected at UAZ to do SUVs of "more affordable class" on the platform of government vehicles.

The most likely candidates for the assembly of cars of the "Cortege" were also called "GAZ Group" and KAMAZ, which can organize the production of components for sedans. Work on the cars of "Cortege" is to be completed by December 31st, 2016.
