WHO, Georgia, UNFPA in Ukraine provided almost UAH 10 mln assistance for IDPs
OREANDA-NEWS. From September to November 2014, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine received humanitarian aid from the World Health Organization, the Government of Georgia, the United Nations Population Fund in Ukraine and international organizations worth UAH 9 million and 917 thousand, acting Health Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Lazoryshynets informed at a briefing at the Government House on Monday, December 1, 2014.
"This will provide primary and specialized medical care to 170,000 internally displaced persons within 3 months. Also, it will allow to provide primary and specialized obstetric care for over a million of women," the Health Minister underlined.
According to him, in particular, the Government of Georgia provided medication, insulin, vaccines, medical devices and supplies for hardware hemodialysis worth more than UAH 5 million. The World Health Organization provided medicines and medical products in the form of inter-agency health kits for emergency aid worth UAH 2 million 387 thousand, as well as desperately needed 300 thousand doses of tetanus toxoid worth over UAH 260 thousand. A British pharmaceutical company provided modern drugs for pain relief and antibiotics worth UAH1 million and 217 thousand.
In addition, UNFPA provided medicines and medical products in the form of inter-agency health kits for emergency aid worth more than UAH 820 thousand.
