OREANDA-NEWS. December 01, 2014. St Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange organized the second exchange trading with natural gas.

As a result, the number of contracts increased by more than 1.5 times, the scope of gas sales increased nearly tenfold reaching 198,400,000 cubic metres of gas in total for 534,127,000 RUB (21,000,000 cubic metres of gas in total for 55,250,400 RUB were sold at the first exchange trading session).

Along with “Gazprom Mezhregiongaz” Ltd., “Rosneft” Oil Company” OJSC also sold natural gas at the exchange.

“At the second gas trading session the scope of sales and the number of trading participants increased, which indicate systematic development of exchange trading with gas in Russia. FAS, jointly with the Ministry of Energy, the Federal Tariff Service and the Central Bank devised an Action Plan to advance exchange trading with gas in order to further develop and support gas trading for ten days and the day ahead”, commented Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia), Anatoly Golomolzin.
