OREANDA-NEWS. The DIXY chain has opened its first store in Nizhny Novgorod, anchoring its presence in the Volga Federal District, the fourth such administrative territory in which it operates.

Located at 9 Sormovskoye Shosse, the outlet is the first in the city, which is the capital of the Volga Federal District. Residents of Tumbotino, in Nizhny Novgorod Region, have had a DIXY neighborhood store in their town since last year.

The new store will sell more than 3,000 goods, including those made by local producers. All of the bread and bakery goods, which generate substantial traffic, will come from producers in Nizhny Novgorod Region, while local firms will also supply over one third of dairy products and 20% of the goods in the "meat delicatessen" category.

"Moving into a new region is in line with DIXY's strategic plans, " said Ilya Yakubson, president of DIXY Group. "In the medium term, we will continue opening stores in existing regions and neighboring areas that we can serve through our network of distribution centers. Our short-term plan is to strengthen our presence in Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and Tyumen".

At the end of October 2014, the DIXY division had 1,966 stores in more than 600 towns and cities, and the chain continues to expand organically into new areas. In the first ten months of 2014, the division opened more than 300 new stores gross, including over 100 in new locations in the Moscow, Leningrad, Tula, Ryazan, Chelyabinsk and other regions.
