OREANDA-NEWS. November 27, 2014. Ministry of Investment and Development offers to fine cellular operators for poor quality.
This has been stated by Vice Minister of the department Askar Zhumagaliyev in a joint meeting of the Council for Economic Policy at the faction of "Nur Otan" in Majilis and the expert group on the subject "Innovative Economy".
"We are working on the quality of cellular communication. We showed the car, which is equipped with the latest technology, which allows us to check the quality of cellular communication. We do not have enough, frankly speaking, relevant legislation, which will enable us to take appropriate measures for mobile operators," A. Zhumagaliyev said, addressing the deputies.
According to him, there is a bill in the Majilis, which contains the proposals to control the quality of communication.
"I hope that you will approve our proposal, which involves penalties for poor quality service provider. We provide such mechanism, along with the technical support for the development and improvement of quality of cellular communication in the future," A. Zhumagaliyev said.
According to the World Economic Forum Kazakhstan occupies the 17th place in cellular tariff. "In terms of tariffs for communication services at the time there was liberalization of telecommunications industry, there was a number of operators that compete in the market today, and this led to a reduction in tariffs. According to the World Economic Forum we occupy the 17th place on cellular tariffs," A. Zhumagaliyev said.
Vice Minister promised that tariffs for cellular communication would be reduced in the future.
"We will continue this work, especially since previous years we have organized a lowering of tariffs in terms of interconnection and in terms of price limit on mobile communications," A. Zhumagaliyev added.
