OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus to have its sovereign credit rating assigned by Fitch Ratings.

Sergey Rumas, Chairman of the Board of Belarus Development Bank (DBD), made a statement to this effect at a press-conference following the UK-Belarus investment forum in London.

Belarus has made an agreement with Fitch Ratings to have a sovereign credit rating assigned, Rumas said. The move is expected to strengthen Belarus' position on the international capital market and give investors a better idea about sovereign risks, the BDB chief said.

Asked about Russian banks, which had planned to act as organizers of Belarus' Eurobond offering, Rumas said Belarus was still undecided about the organizer. Belarus has received offers from Europe's largest banks and will choose one or two organizers when the time is right for entering the Eurobond market, Rumas said.

"Today we have a wider choice of organizers than we used to have," Rumas said.
