OMZ Announces New Chief Executive Officer
OREANDA-NEWS. Mikhail Smirnov was appointed as Chief Executive Oficer of OMZ OJSC. Earlier he had been in the capacity of First Deputy Director General at OMZ OJSC.
Igor Timofeev, who has been working in OMZ Group since 2011, left the company due to transfer to another job. His activity was highly appreciated by the members of the Directors' Board and the business community. "Igor Aleksandrovich approved himself as a strong crisis Manager, who successfully solved a number of strategically important tasks entrusted to him by the shareholders", - pointed out Vadim Makhov, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of OMZ OJSC. - Production of the petrochemical reactors was successfully introduced under his guidance at the Group enterprises. Some types of reactors were manufactured in Russia for the first time. It is impossible not to note such a significant project as manufacture of the second stage of the gas treatment plant for transportion to Krasnodar Compressor Station. The project was implemented by OMZ Group of companies within the frame of JSC Gazprom Investment Program for the Olympic Sochi".
Mikhail Smirnov has 14 years of experience in the field of metallurgy and heavy industry. He graduated from the State University of Management, majoring in Management in Metallurgy and State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Training Moscow State Law Academy, he also obtained an MBA degree at Northumbria University (Newcastle, United Kingdom). Mikhail started his career at Severstal JSC, where he started from being an expert in Sales Development Department and reached the position of the Vice President in the American company Severstal North America, Ins. Before he was transferred to OMZ OJSC, he has been working as the Chief Executive Officer and later on the President of Cryogenmash OJSC.
The major tasks that Mikhail Smirnov should solve in his new position are as follows: to increase operating efficiency of the company, improve innovation component of the business and transition from supplies of equipment to highly integrated solutions.
