Tourist Services Were Rendered to 202 800 People in Moldova, Up 15,7%
OREANDA-NEWS. November 25, 2014. According to the National Tourism Agency, about 79.1% of services were attributable to outbound tourism, 20.9% being attributable to internal and inbound tourism.
In January-September, 2014, 9,100 foreign tourist visited Moldova via travel agencies, down 5.5% versus the same period of the past year. 54.3% of tourists came to Moldova for entertainment purposes, 34.8% for business and 5.5% for cure. Most tourists arrived from Romania (18.6%).
Then followed Russia (13.6%), Ukraine (9.6%), Germany (5.5%), the USA (5.1%), Israel (4.9%), Turkey (4.5%), Italy (4.3%), Poland (3.3%), Great Britain (2.9%), Bulgaria (2.6%), the Netherlands (2.5%), Belarus (2.2%), Austria (1.7%) and other countries. In the reporting period, 160,500 Moldovans left Moldova via travel agencies, 14.3% up as compared with the same period of the last year. Most of the tourists from Moldova left for abroad for entertainment, preferring Turkey and Bulgaria (36.3% and 36.2% respectively).
Then followed Greece (9.3%), Romania (7.8%), Ukraine (1.7%), UAE (1.4%), Egypt (1.1%), Italy (0.9%). The internal tourism embraced 33,100 tourists, up 31.9% year-on-year. In the reporting period, internal tourism was mostly developed by travel agencies of Chisinau, Centre Development Region (23.1%) and South Development Region (20%).
