Moldova, Ukraine, Poland to Expand Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. November 24, 2014. Besides, supported by Poland and other EU member states, Moldova and Ukraine will continue pursuing energy security, infrastructure and other reforms relevant to these countries’ accession to the EU.
That was announced by Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti at a joint press conference he gave together with Presidents of Poland and Ukraine Bronislaw Komorowski and Petro Poroshenko following their trilateral meeting. As Moldova’s President said, the relations of friendship and cooperation among Moldova, Poland and Ukraine were strengthening. At their meeting the Presidents discussed the matters of developing the political dialogue and direct contacts, settling the conflicts in Ukraine and Moldova, ensuring peace and safety, giving mutual support within various regional initiatives and international organizations.
Nicolae Timofti welcomed Ukraine’s pro-European choice and confirmed Moldova’s position as for the support to this country’s territorial integrity. “We stand united with Ukraine. It is in our national interests that Ukraine succeed, since we share the same European and democratic values", the President of Moldova said. While implementing reforms and projects as the EU-RM and EU-Ukraine association agreements require, Moldova and Ukraine will benefit from the valuable support of Poland and other EU states and the countries’ integration into the EU will accelerate, Nicolae Timofti noted.
He stressed Ukraine being an important partner for Moldova in the process of the Transnistrian settlement and noted there was a need to strengthen efforts to settle the conflict on the Dniester. Nicolae Timofti thanked his Polish and Ukrainian counterparts for the sympathy with, and support to, Moldova.
