OREANDA-NEWS. November 21, 2014. The Twinning Project for the Agency of Land Relations and Cadastre (ALRC) that provides for the improvement of the mapping process in Moldova was launched in Chisinau.

A sum of 1.2 million euros will be allocated from European funds to ensure the implementation of the Action Plan, according to a press release by the EU Delegation to Moldova.

The main beneficiary of the project is the Agency of Land Relations and Cadastre, which will be supported to strengthen its mapping system, performance and impact. The project provides for, in particular, drafting an umbrella law on geographical data in accordance with the requirements of the EU INSPIRE. The project's activities will be conducted in cooperation with European partners involved in this project, Swedesurvey overseas agency of Lantmateriet (the Swedish mapping, cadastral and land registration authority) and the State Geodetic Administration of Croatia.

The project aims to make progress within the process of development of the information society services in Moldova. In addition, this activity will provide support to the Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre on the management and maintenance of a safe, homogeneous, integrated and efficient mapping system.

The implementation of the project will contribute to improving the mapping system in line with EU standards and international best practices for managing geographic data.
