FAS Discusses Developing Electric Power Industry in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. November 20, 2014. Deputy Head of the Department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) for Control over Electric Power Industry, Elena Tsyshevskaya, made a presentation at the VI International Conference “Russian Electric Power Industry. Strategies and Priorities” organized with support of IC ENERGY and Power Generators Council.
The Conference is an international platform where representatives of the largest companies in the electric power sector of Russia, consumers and suppliers, as well as industry regulators get together to discuss the pressing issues and elaborate approaches to solving the issues facing the industry.
Elena Tsyshevskaya focused her presentation on legislative initiatives in antimonopoly regulation of the market and the prospects of developing competition in the electric power industry in Russia. She especially emphasized the measures to support economic stability of operations of the participants on the wholesale and retail markets of electric power (capacity).
“Today’s realities show that there is an urgent need to adopt measures aimed not only at economic stability and industry protection, but also at transformation of all its segments. The market rules must meet modern challenges, enabling industry players to develop and compete, not being afraid to bump up against unjustified risks of obsolete regulatory conflicts”, pointed out Elena Tsyshevskaya.
