OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2014. Marangoni and Tatneft Group agreed to form a joint venture in Russia for tire retreading of all steel truck tires.  

The joint venture company will be based in Nizhnekamsk, Republic of Tatarstan. The joint venture will be operated through "KaMaRetread" LLC where LLC "Trading House "Kama", a wholly owned subsidiary of Tatneft, will own 65% while Marangoni S.p.A. will own 35%.

Marangoni S.p.A. will contribute to the JV its unique equipment, technologies and experience in tire retreading, and will provide necessary training, while Tatneft Group will provide a facility for the retreading, management and personnel as well as local expertise.
The JV will be manufacturing retreaded all steel truck (AST) tires with top quality assured by advanced level of technology aimed at offering a significant increase in the tire life.

 Collection of casings and further marketing of retreaded tires manufactured at "KaMaRetread" factory will be made through the dealer network of Trading House "Kama" and the "Tyre & Service" centers. Customers will be able either to hand over the used tire casings and only pay the retreading service cost and/or to purchase the already retreaded tires.  It is expected that the JV will commence its operations in the first half of 2015.

Establishment of the tire retreading facility is the final component of the Tatneft's program to create and develop a new class of all steel cord truck tires and related services.  From durability and economic efficiency point of view the AST Kama tires are a technologically new product on the Russian market that meets the most modern requirements of the local and foreign standards, and they have quality level similar to top tires of international brands.

The special construction design of the KAMA AST tires leeds to certain advantages compared to the conventional truck tires, such as: fuel savings up to 10%, lower weight, increased load capacity up to 8 %, increased durability, improved speed performance, longer service life, which allow  significant cost savings for  transport companies. Today AST Kama tires demonstrate good tire life up to 250 thousand km. AST KAMA tires construction design ensures the possibility of retreading. This allows increasing the tire life up to 500 000 km.  

Cold retreading of the ASC KAMA tires allows making maximum use of the life of tire casing.
Availability of own facilities to retread ASC tires manufactured by Tatneft's petrochemical complex will ensure not only expansion of the customer service network but will also contribute to environmental friendliness. Retreading is a new alternative for tires disposal and will significantly decrease negative impact on the environment.

Marangoni and Tatneft Group believe in market potential of the JV and consider it as the first step for the expansion of cooperation in the future.
