OREANDA-NEWS. November 17, 2014. A significant decrease of economically active population will occur in Kazakhstan from 2014 to 2021.

It was reported by Minister of Health and Social Development of Kazakhstan Tamara Duissenova during the "round table" on "The trends of migration processes (social aspects)" in the Majilis.

"Until 2013, each year, given the fact that we had a high birth rate growth, plus there were more working age population, we had net growth of the economically active population of 100 thousand people. Starting from 2014, net growth of the economically active population will be 19 thousand by 2021," T. Duissenova said.

According to her, such decrease in the working age population is due to the "pit" in the birth rate from 1993 to 2003. By 2030, the inflow of new workers into the market will come to a new peak due to persons born after 2003, which exceeds 100 thousand people a year.

In connection with upcoming labour shortage, the Ministry has developed new approaches to migration policy regarding resettlement of oralmans, relocation of the population from the south to the north, as well as attracting foreign labour.
