OREANDA-NEWS.  November 14, 2014. The Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan’s Oliy Majlis hosted a Chinese delegation led by Wang Zhengwei, Deputy Chairman of the National Committee of the People’s Political Consultative Conference – Chairman of State Ethnic Affairs Commission of the People’s Republic of China.

The Speaker of the Legislative Chamber Dilorom Tashmuhamedova noted in particular during the conversation that ties between Uzbekistan and China have been steadfast and building on the principles of mutual confidence, respect, equality and willingness, and that the agreements reached during meetings of heads of state serve as important normative foundation for that. State visits by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to China in August 2014 and that by President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to Uzbekistan in September 2013 constitute a crucial factor in uplifting the strategic relations to a qualitatively new level.

The interaction between the two countries has been advancing consistently on the basis of the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership, the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty, the Joint Declaration on the Further Enhancement and Development of Bilateral Strategic Cooperation and many other documents. In the meantime, the parliaments of the two nations have been cooperating dynamically, while the two sides regularly play host to visits of various level delegations and fruitful meetings.

During the talks at the lower house of Uzbekistan’s parliament, the two sides exchanged views across aspects of partnership between the legislatures of our two nations. It was stressed that inter-parliamentary cooperation is important in the further consolidation of normative bases of bilateral relations.

“The Uzbek economy has been advancing with high rates,” Wang Zhengwei has suggested. “Wide-ranging reforms are in progress in this country to enhance democratic transformation and boost civil society. What is pleasant is the steady development of cooperation between our countries in many directions. We stand for further consolidation of mutual ties that are based on principles of friendship and interest and for elaboration and realization of promising projects.”

Members of the Chinese delegation held negotiations later the day at the Interethnic Cultural Center of Uzbekistan.
