OREANDA-NEWS. November 13, 2014. FAS continues efforts to form specialized departments in the leading universities across Russia (1).

The new Department of Competition Law is formed at one of the largest universities of social-and-economic sciences and humanities in Europe – the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) (2).

The Department is formed on the basis of Speransky Law Faculty and its aim is to support educating students as well as public servants who receive additional training at the Academy on the basic principles of the antimonopoly law.

The Head of FAS Igor Artemiev is appointed the Academic Supervisor of the Department; Deputy Head of FAS Alexander Kinev – the Department Head.

“The Federal Antimonopoly Service undertakes targeted efforts on competition advocacy. Opening Competition Law Departments in the leading national universities is an integral part of such efforts. The purpose of these Departments is to not only give knowledge about the norms aimed at competition protection but also generate respect towards them, highlight the work of the antimonopoly bodies that apply them, and “recruit” the best students in the antimonopoly ranks”, pointed out Deputy Head of FAS Alexander Kinev.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service opened base Departments and Competition Law Departments in such largest Russian universities as Kutafin Moscow State Law University, MGIMO, the Higher School of Economics, the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and several regional universities.

The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) is formed by an Order of the President of the Russian Federation in 2010 consolidating the Academy of National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation, the Russian Presidential Academy of Public Administration and 12 other federal state educational institutions. The consolidated academies established a reputation as the leaders in training top executives for business as well as government agencies in Russia.
