Belarusian Metal Plant's Shipments Increases 5.1% on yr in Jan-Sep
OREANDA-NEWS. Product shipments by Zhlobin-based Belarusian Metallurgical Plant (BMZ) stood at 1.86 million tonnes in January-September 2014, up 5.1% on the year, an official with the plant told.
Cast iron shipments totalled 367,952 tonnes, up 37.4% year on year, rolled steel - 1.053 million tonnes (down 3.2%), steel pipes - 105,366 tonnes (5.6%), hardware - 333,271 tonnes (up 6.2%),
Metal cord shipments stood at 67,566 tonnes in Jan-Sep 2014, up 7.1%, bead wire - 29,443 tonnes, down 0.1%, brass-coated steel wire for high-pressure hoses - 29,970 tonnes, up 13.3%, steel wire - 206,292 tonnes, up 5.9%.
BMZ steel output amounted to 1.872 million tonnes in January-September 2014, up 4% on the year; rolled stock - 1.623 million tonnes (down 4.2%), steel pipes - 105,267 tonnes (up 7.4%).
Hardware output totalled 321,338 tonnes, up 6.1% year on year, including metal cord output - 61,932 tonnes, up 9%, bead wire - 29,326 tonnes, up 10.8%, brass-coated steel wire for high-pressure hoses - 28,744 tonnes, up 38.3%, steel wire - 201,335 tonnes, up 1.3%.
State-owned company Belarusian Metallurgical Plant was launched in 1984. BMZ exports about 85% of its output. In 2013 BMZ products were exported to the EU, Russia, the Middle East, Ukraine, the United States, Africa, South Africa. The EU, the Middle East and Russia account for almost 90% of the BMZ's total exports.
