IndianOil Confers SCOPE Meritorious Award

IndianOil has been conferred with the Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE) Meritorious Gold Award 2012-13 for Corporate Social Responsibility and Responsiveness by the Hon'ble President of India, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, at a ceremony held at the Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi today. The award function was organised jointly by SCOPE, the apex body of PSEs and Department of Public Enterprises, Government of India. On behalf of IndianOil, Mr. B. Ashok, Chairman and Mr. V.S. Okhde, Director (Pipelines), IndianOil received the award.
IndianOil has been felicitated with the award for various initiatives undertaken towards Corporate Social Responsibility which include primary mobile health care scheme titled 'IndianOil Sachal Swasthya Seva' for operating Mobile Medical Units linked to rural petrol pumps called Kisan Seva Kendras of IndianOil, providing clean drinking water to schools and communities, various educational scholarship schemes, various community development initiatives, initiatives towards protecting and developing tourist facilities at Heritage sites, programmes run by Assam Oil School of Nursing, AOD Industrial Training Centre etc. All the CSR activities of IndianOil revolve around the Vision and Mission statement of IndianOil - Care, Innovation, Passion, Trust.
H.E., Hon'ble President, speaking on the occasion lauded the efforts made by the public sector enterprises and said CPSEs are custodians of public wealth and they need to ensure continued compliance with the best standards of corporate governance and transparency. India today stands at the cusp of a transformative phase which will successfully place India in the league of developed nations over the next two decades. The Hon'ble President mentioned that in the last ten years itself, India has scripted a wonderful success story emerging as one of the leading economies of the world and the third largest economy in terms of purchasing power parity and the CPSEs have played an extremely important role in boosting the Indian Economy.

Verma, Chairman, SCOPE & Chairman, SAIL and Dr. U.D. Choubey, DG, SCOPE along with a host of senior executives from various Public Sector companies were present at the Award Ceremony.
