OREANDA-NEWS. Rosoboronexport, a Rostec subsidiary, is presenting advanced state-of-the-art military equipment for the Indonesian Air Force at the Indo Defence 2014 trade show.

The Indo Defence 2014 international trade show for weapons and military equipment is taking place in Indonesian capital Jakarta from November 5 through November 8, 2014.

Rosoboronexport has been instrumental in organizing the demonstration of the BMP-3F infantry combat vehicle for the Indonesian Marine Corps at the trade show, the company says in its press release. The Russian special-purpose exporter is prepared to deliver additional shipments of BMP-3F's, as well as Mil Mi-8/Mi-17 class military transport helicopters, which are already operated successfully by the Indonesian military.

“Our Indonesian partners are interested n purchasing both additional batches of the military equipment they already operate and the latest models of Russian-made military equipment. [They are] primarily interested in military aircraft and ground equipment, while we also continue actively promoting naval equipment and air defense systems,” Rosoboronexport Chief Special Projects Officer Nikolay Dimidyuk, head of the company's delegation at the trade show, said.

Special equipment for police and anti-terrorist units will be demonstrated during the presentations.

In addition, Russian officials intend to discuss possible deliveries of training facilities and simulators for crews of Russian-made fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. The negotiating parties will also discuss the prospects of establishing service centers for previously delivered equipment drawing on experience of establishing similar centers in Malaysia and South Korea.

“We are discussing more than just deliveries of finished products with our Indonesian partners. We are fully prepared for cooperation with local defense companies in manufacturing, fully in line with the current trends in the international weapons market,” Nikolay Dimidyuk said.

A large number of Russian-made military machines and equipment are in service of the Indonesian army. Russia delivered to Indonesia Sukhoi Su-27 and Su-30 fighter jets, Mil Mi-35P and Mil Mi-17V-5 helicopters, BTR-80 personnel carriers and BMP-3F infantry combat vehicles, a batch of Kalashnikov 100-series assault rifles and a range of other equipment and weapons between the years 1992 and 2013. The Indonesian Army also still has some Soviet-era models of weapons and military equipment, including the PT-76 amphibious tanks.
