Kazakh Minister: It Is Necessary to Change Attitude towards PPP
OREANDA-NEWS. November 07, 2014. Minister of National Economy Yerbolat Dossayev stressed the need to change people's attitude towards the PPP.
The Minister said that work on development of public-private partnership was launched back in 2006, but only 3 concession project have been implemented over the last 8 years in Kazakhstan.
According to the concession model such projects were implemented: the railway line "Shar - Ust-Kamenogorsk", power line North Kazakhstan - Aktobe Region, the airport passenger terminal in Aktau.
"Currently, 44 projects worth about USD 3.5 billion are in various stages of readiness," Y.Dossayev said at a forum "Attracting private sector investment in infrastructure projects through public-private partnership" organized by the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Kazakhstan and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
In addition, it is planned to announce a competition for the project of the highway Big Almaty Ring Road together with the IFC.
The event was attended by the Minister of National Economy Yerbolat Dossayev, Chairman NMH "Baiterek" Kuandyk Bishimbayev, IFC Director for Europe and Central Asia Tomasz Telma, foreign experts from India, Hungary, Turkey, Jordan, the US and Russia.
