OREANDA-NEWS. November 06, 2014. There was more good news for the national carrier Estonian Air, which recently announced it might be privatized, now saying it has won a tender to provide an air connection from two small Swedish towns to Stockholm.

The twice-daily flights will begin at Gallivare, a mining town in the very north of Sweden with a population of around 8,000, stopping in Arvidsjaur, an even smaller town with a population of 5,000, but a center for testing vehicles in winter conditions, Delfi reported.

The company will be able to use existing aircraft for the routes.

“Right now we only have this project but I will not rule out that in the future we will do something similar. We must take steps that are as risk-free as possible. What I can say is that Estonian Air must be bigger in the future and go outside of Estonia,” CEO Jan Palmer said.

Estonian Air will begin servicing the routes in the fall of 2015.
