Rivne Azot Increases Ammonia Production Capacities
OREANDA-NEWS. Launching of new hydrogen evolution unit in ammonia shop-2 will allow the enterprise to produce additionally 13,000 tonnes of ammonia per year. Project costing about UAH 43.4 million will enable enhancing of production capacities as well as reducing production cost of end products.
Rivne Azot, part of OSTCHEM holding (consolidating Group DF's fertilizer business), put into operation a new advanced hydrogen evolution unit in ammonia shop-2.
“Putting new unit into operation will allow the enterprise to produce additionally 13,000 tonnes of ammonia,” says Oleksandr Khalin, General Director of OSTCHEM. “At the output we obtain ammonia which has significantly lower production cost than before. Moreover, we reduce operational risks considerably.”
The plant invested UAH 43.4 million in this investment project.
“All required technical tests and approvals have been conducted and the unit is put into operation. Fully loaded, new unit will be able to produce 5,500 cubic meters of hydrogen per hour,” emphasized Mykhailo Zabluda, Head of the Board of Rivne Azot.
Hydrogen, evolved in the unit, is used for gas mixture forming which is necessary for ammonia production. In the future the enterprise plans to use hydrogen, which will be produced in the unit, in production of another product - adipic acid.
Construction and launching of the hydrogen evolution unit is aimed to increase efficiency, reduce production cost and enhance stability of the enterprise's operation. Rivne Azot reduces energy costs and consumption indexes per unit.
Launching a new hydrogen evolution unit is a second large project implemented by the enterprise this autumn. On October 23, 2014, Rivne Azot launched a new non-concentrated nitric acid production unit that allowed producing 120,000 tonnes of non-concentrated nitric acid per year. OSTCHEM invested UAH 98 million in this project.
According to OSTHCEM's investment plan, UAH 144 million will be invested in Rivne Azot in 2014.
