Domestic Low-Fare Carrier Frontier Airlines Announces New Service
OREANDA-NEWS. Denver-based carrier Frontier Airlines has announced plans to add twice-weekly service between Miami International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport beginning in December. The new service announcement comes less than one month after the domestic low-cost carrier revealed that it would be launching 38 weekly departures from MIA to four additional domestic destinations.
The new nonstop Miami-Washington D.C. service is scheduled to begin on December 21, the same day that Frontier will launch nonstop flights from MIA to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport. Flights to Washington Dulles will operate on Thursdays and Sundays, using the carrier's 168-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. On December 20, Frontier will launch nonstop service from Miami to Denver, Philadelphia and New York's LaGuardia Airport. With a total of five domestic destinations and 40 weekly departures, Frontier's entry to the Miami market will offer passengers a substantial - and immediate - lineup of budget -friendly travel options to popular U.S. cities.
"We're thrilled that Frontier Airlines has already made the decision to expand their new lineup of flights from MIA," said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. Gonzalez. "The addition of direct, low-fare service to Washington Dulles represents another strong travel option for our customers and another way that MIA is connecting our community to the nation and the world."
Frontier becomes the first domestic low-fare carrier to offer regular service at MIA since 2012 when Alaska Airlines operated a single daily flight from the global gateway to Seattle. Frontier Airlines was founded in 1994 and continues to focus on delivering friendly, low-cost service to its customers.
