Tele2 Launches Free-Toll Service for Fighting SMS Spam
OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, has launched a new service to effectively protect its subscribers against unsolicited text messages - "Antispam SMS".
For the comfort of clients Tele2 has created a service that allows unsubscribing from messages by any sender. The operator's client has to send a free-toll message to 345 by having indicated a name and a number of unsolicited SMS (+79ххххххххх, Taxi376).
The service "Antispam SMS" was launched on 21 October 2014 when amendments to the Law on Telecommunications came into force. Legal changes are aiming to fight bulk SMS.
From October 2013 to October 2014 the number of complaints by Tele2 subscribers about SMS spam decreased two-fold. Tele2 achieved these results thanks to focused work on protection against unwanted messages.
Since November 2013 Tele2 started filtering out SMS with alphanumeric and short codes sender IDs. The measure applied to senders who are not Tele2 partners or SMS aggregators that have not signed a relevant agreement with Tele2. This helped filtering out all sent messages and protecting subscribers against unwanted SMS.
Besides, the operator is offering the Black List service to its clients, which gives them an opportunity to get rid of unwanted calls and annoying SMS. Subscribers may include unwanted short numbers into the list as well as sender names and DEF numbers.
Tele2 will continue developing a system for protecting clients against SMS by setting up filters based on customer preferences. The operator is planning to launch the White List service that will let its users compile their own list of numbers. Senders who did not enter the list will be blocked.
