Ukraine Enters TOP-100 Ranking of Doing Business
OREANDA-NEWS. October 31, 2014. Ukraine has entered the TOP-100 ranking of the ease of doing business ranking “Doing Business 2015”, rising by 16 ranks and stands at 96 in the ranking of 189 economies. These data were presented in the report of the staff of the World Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC), published in Washington.
The ranking is based on 10 indicators and covers 189 countries. The data in this report cover the period from May 2013 to June 1, 2014.
First, it was noted a number of business improvements in Ukraine. Among them:
simplifying the paying taxes process for companies through the introduction of e-filing system and of the single social tax - climbing by 49 ranks;
registering property (positive dynamics by 29 ranks) through the introduction of a new State Register of Property Rights to Immovable Property, which provides state registration in the single Register of Property Rights and Encumbrances both on land plots and on properties located on them.
"Increasing of the Ukraine's position in the ranking of Doing Business-2015 is a signal of positive changes in international assessments of the business environment, although this improvement can hardly be regarded as sufficient," acting Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Valeriy Piatnytskiy noted.
Ukraine has improved the distance to frontier score. Currently, economic and political turmoil has affected individual performance rating, which decreased slightly.
Getting electricity indicator “pulls Ukraine down” (globally, Ukraine stands at 185 in the ranking of 189 economies). According to data collected by Doing Business, getting electricity there requires 10.0 procedures, takes 277.0 days and costs 165.5% of income per capita.
