OREANDA-NEWS. October 31, 2014. A group of local entrepreneurs in food industry participate in an economic mission to Romania - in the cities of Iasi, Bucharest and Brasov, in order to get acquainted with the European business practices and find business partners.

The economic mission is organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova (CCI), in cooperation with the European Business Association (EBA Moldova) within the project titled “DCFTA - Informing and capacity building of the economic agents”.

The head of the CCI International Relations Department, Mihai Bilba, has said the entrepreneurs would take part in two economic forums, would have bilateral business meetings and visits to major distribution chains, where they will get acquainted with the standards governing the EU market and will negotiate the delivery of food products to wholesalers in Romania.

The Moldovan delegation will visit the INDAGRA-2014 International Fair, held in Bucharest on 29 October - 2 November. The fair includes salons specialising in the food industry, agriculture, horticulture, viticulture and livestock breeding etc.

At the same time, within the business mission, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania will sign a cooperation agreement.

According to the National Statistics Bureau, Moldova’s foreign trade with Romania in January-August amounted to 794 million dollars, up by 12.22 per cent against to the same period of 2013. In terms of the trade value, Romania ranks second  among Moldova’s trading partners.

In January-August this year, the export of goods amounted to 275 million dollars and increased by 2.5 per cent against the same period in 2013. Romania ranks second among countries to which Moldova exports, with a share of 17.37 per cent of overall Moldovan exports.

On the above-mentioned period, the import of goods in Moldova from Romania was estimated at 519 million dollars, that is by 18.14 per cent more against the first eight months of 2013. Romania ranks third in the top countries from which Moldova imports, with a weight of 15.24 per cent in total imports.

The Moldova - European DCFTA - Informing and Capacity Building of the Economic Agents project was launched on 1 July. It was conducted with the assistance of the International Finance Corporation and the Swedish government.
