OREANDA-NEWS. SSE has again been named the best performing major energy supplier in the Citizens Advice quarterly Energy Supplier Performance report, which measures complaint performance based on customers seeking advice or support from independent organisations.

The consumer body awarded SSE a complaints score of 33.7 per 100,000 customers for the period from April to June - almost 20 times less than the worst performing supplier and half the score of the next best performing competitor. A graph accompanying the release maps supplier scores over the past year and shows that SSE has consistently set the standard for the rest of the industry.

The news comes after SSE published an open letter in response to the regulator, Ofgem, on the action it is taking to ensure customer complaints are well handled and quickly resolved.

Tony Keeling, Director of Customer Service at SSE, said: "Any complaint is one too many, but these latest figures show we are making a difference and putting clear water between SSE and the rest of the so-called Big Six.

"We can still improve, but we're over twice as effective as any major energy company when it comes handling customer complaints, and 20 times better than the worst performer.

"Customers deserve better and will rightly expect their energy supplier to show they take complaints seriously."
