OREANDA-NEWS. Omsk-based companies within Ruselectronics Holding Company, a Rostec subsidiary, have developed a new-generation Uragan-N communication system. Development of this system is going on under the Federal nationwide special-purpose naval ship-building program covering the years through 2050 according to the priority targets of increasing the nation's defense capabilities and is intended to overcome and neutralize the electronic warfare (EW) systems of potential enemies.

The new communication system is designed for use aboard naval surface ships of various types. The system will operate even in the vicinity of working radio jamming equipment and on communication channels protected from jamming. The Uragan-N communication system has completed government-supervised tests aboard an anti-submarine warfare corvette. The leadership of the Russian Navy signed the Statement of Completed Tests by a prototype of the new system on September 5, 2014.

"ONIIP traditionally develops communication systems for the Russian Military. They have in place a system for training skilled experts on the job, and have tremendous experience in the field," Ruselectronics CEO Andrey Zverev said.

The Joint-Stock Company Omsk Scientific Research Institute for Instrument Manufacturing (ONIIP) and the Irtysh Omsk-based Manufacturing Company are a key developer of radio systems and special-purpose radio equipment for the needs of the Russian Navy, the Russian Home Affairs (Police) Ministry, the FSB, the Russian Federal Protective Service, the Russian Disaster Response Ministry, the Russian Federal Customs Service and the Russian Defense Ministry. The Kozitsky Plant, also controlled by Ruselectronics Holding Company, is expected to manufacture the new communication system.
