OREANDA-NEWS. JSC RUSBURMASH, a company operated by ARMZ Uranium Holding Co. (JSC Atomredmetzoloto), carried out a unique evacuation of equipment and outfits after it had completed field works in the area of the Pavlovskoye Deposit on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago. Within a record-breaking time frame of just 20 days in October, drilling rigs, bulldozers, compressors and 3-ton containers with geological samples were removed. All these have been done under conditions of quickly approaching winter with strong Arctic winds and decreasing temperatures. The evacuation was further complicated by the absence of motorways or an equipped pier.

Technological equipment was followed by residential structures of dismantled workers' camp, which were delivered to the coastal area and loaded aboard. Together with the equipment, a working team including geologists, geophysicists and drillers also leaved the archipelago.

During the 2014 season, the RUSBURMASH team fulfilled geological exploration activities in full scope. These involved exploratory drilling, drifting of surface mining workings, gravity and geoelectrical prospecting, surveying and other necessary works. Noteworthy, the tasks were accomplished in just four months, although similar work generally takes two operational seasons.

Anatoliy Novgorodtsev, JSC RUSBURMASH Chief Geologist, noted that in spite of unfavourable climatic conditions, the operation for removal of equipment, outfits and personnel from the Novaya Zemlya archipelago was of an unprecedented nature. "Completion of this operation enables us to state with satisfaction that we finished the most important and difficult stage in implementing the project for the evaluation of commercial significance of the Bezymyansky ore field, including the Pavlovskoye lead-zinc deposit. Therefore, it has been one more time confirmed that the JSC RUSBURMASH team is capable of fulfilling tasks of any degree of complexity with the utmost efficiency for the project," he added.
