OREANDA-NEWS. The state-owned Belarusian company OAO Belaruskali says its proceeds from potash exports to Ukraine fell 96% year-on-year in January-August 2014 to USD 21.8 million, a source in the profile ministry told.

Potash export proceeds have fallen as a result of shrinking sales.

In January-August 2014 OAO Belaruskali exported 40,750 tonnes of potash fertilizer to Ukraine (in terms of 100% potassium chloride), down 64% on the year.

The average price of Belarusian potash fertilizers sold on the Ukrainian market in Jan-Aug 2014 stood at USD 535 per tonne to compare with USD 640 per tonne in Jan-Aug 2013.

As previously reported, Belaruskali exported around 3.437 million tonnes of potash fertilizer (in terms of 100% potassium chloride) in 2013 (3.668 million in 2012).

Belaruskali's export proceeds stood at USD 2.063 billion in 2013, USD 2.651 billion in 2012.

The state-owned Belarusian company OAO Belaruskali is one of the world's largest manufacturers of potash fertilizers, employing about 18,440 personnel. It operates the Starobinskoye potash salts deposit and comprises four mine groups, auxiliary shops and support units.

Belaruskali controls more than 16% of the world's potash fertilizer market.

Belaruskali exports are facilitated by OAO Belarus Potash Company.

Belarus' government said it was possible to sell a minority stake in the potash manufacturing company.
