OREANDA-NEWS. OAO Vorkutaugol, part of OAO Severstal, one of the world's leading steel and steel-related mining companies, has commissioned two new faces at the Komsomolskaya Mine at the Troynoy and the Chetvertiy seam.

The 612-s face at the Chetvertiy seam is expected to extract around 78 thousand tonnes of coal per month at its full capacity. The face holds approximately 897 thousand tonnes of coal. At this excavation rate, all coal reserves will be extracted from the longwall within twelve months.

The new face at the Troynoy seam with estimated resources of more than 930 thousand tonnes is expected to extract almost 115 thousand tonnes of coal each month. Mining operations at the new coal face are to be completed by August 2015.

Eugeny Balukov, Director of the Komsomolskaya Mine, commented: "Commission of two new coal faces will allow the company to complete the year according to the plan. Even though geological difficulties initially hampered the equipment installation phase, employees have overcome the issues and once again demonstrated high level of their qualification skills."
