OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2014. The state-owned enterprise Energoatom and the Czech company Skoda JS a.s. signed a Memorandum of cooperation and an Agreement not to disclose confidential information.

The document was signed by the President of Energoatom Yurii Nedashkovsky and Director General of the Czech company Skoda JS a.s. Miroslav Fiala.

The memorandum contains that the lines for cooperation may include the following areas: construction, operation and maintenance of nuclear power plants (NPP); scientific and technical cooperation on the issue of the peaceful use of atomic energy; increasing the safety, reconstruction and modernization of nuclear power plants; extending the operation life of NPP power units; spent nuclear fuel treatment; training staff for NPPs and other areas of cooperation agreed by the parties.

During the signing ceremony Yurii Nedashkovsky noted that the company Skoda was a long-term partner, the company had worked with in difficult times and periods of its development. "Today Ukraine is facing difficult time, but Skoda has always been and still remains our reliable partner, Czech partners demonstrate patience and understanding with regard to our temporary constraints. By signing the Memorandum of cooperation, we do this not targeting to sum up our long-term collaboration, but to give a new impetus to our further cooperation", said the president of Energoatom.

In turn, Director General of Skoda JS a.s. Miroslav Fiala reminded that the company he chairs had been working with Energoatom for about 20 years. "Throughout the years Skoda specialists have established personal contacts with members of the Ukrainian nuclear power plants, which use our equipment... We have always built our relationship based on trust. By signing this document, we realize that it has become the result of many years of cooperation and we hope it will be deepened and enlarged in the future," said M. Fiala.
