OREANDA-NEWS. October 29, 2014. The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) held its 12th annual Contractor Open House at the UIC Forum.

The event provided an opportunity for businesses of all sizes and specialties to network with prime contractors and City of Chicago departments, and to learn about upcoming contracts for O'Hare and Midway International Airports. More than 325 people registered for the event, including Illinois State Representative Elgie R. Sims, Jr. (D) 34th District.

"Under the leadership of Mayor Emanuel, the CDA is committed to seeking any and all available opportunities for minority-owned, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to participate in aviation related work," said CDA Commissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. "This also includes new businesses or companies that have not previously held contracts with the City."

The exhibitors included 10 prime contractors as well as the City of Chicago Departments of Law, Procurement Services and Risk Management. The City of Chicago Treasurer's office and Skills for Chicagoland's Future also participated in the event.

Consultants and representatives from the CDA presented information about anticipated bid packages over the next year for the O'Hare Modernization Capital Improvement Program Residential Sound Insulation Program and Professional Services (non-construction). The program also included a presentation about the CDA's Sustainable Airport Manual. You can view the presentation from the CDA Contractor Open House on www.FlyChicago.com.
