ZiO-Podolsk Sends Steam Generator to Unit 3 of Tianwan NPP Phase II
OREANDA-NEWS. The first of four steam generators PGV-1000M for Unit 3 of Tianwan NPP Phase II under construction in China has been shipped from the production site of the machine engineering works ZiO-Podolsk (part of ROSATOM's machine engineering division, Atomenergomash). The engineering design and working design documentation was produced by OKB GIDROPRESS and EC ZIOMAR (also parts of Atomenergomash). Before the end of 2014, ZiO-Podolsk will send the entire set of four steam generators to Tianwan-3.
The steam generator is designed to remove heat from the primary coolant and generate dry saturated steam; it is part of VVER-1000 reactor plant. Dry saturated steam produced by the steam generator is used in the turbine generator set to produce electricity. Steam generator PGV-1000M is designed for thermal capacity of 753 MW; its service life is 40 years.
Steam generator PGV-1000M is an oversize load: the item diameter is over 4 meters, height is 5 meters, load length with loading gear is about 16 meters, and weight with tooling is 378 tons. Therefore, the item is delivered to the plant site by rail on a special transporter of 400 tons load capacity and 58 meters in length.
Steam generators manufactured by ZiO-Podolsk for Units 1 and 2 of Tianwan NPP were delivered to the customer in 2002 and have been in operation since 2007.
