SORAINEN Responds to Clients Needs by Launching Sector Approach
OREANDA-NEWS. October 28, 2014. Today’s business environment expects lawyers to speak clients’ language, providing commercially savvy legal advice.
To meet client needs SORAINEN has launched sector groups focused on specific business sectors (industries). In the six sector groups launched, dedicated lawyers combine legal practice knowledge with industry-specific know-how to keep up-to-date on the latest sector developments.
“Thirteen years ago we were one of the first firms in the Baltics to start specialising in specific areas of law to provide deeper legal insights – clients appreciated the approach and currently all the largest regional law firms are following the same logic. Now, when clients are increasingly expecting lawyers to understand their business and in particular the sectors they operate in, it is the right time to take the next step and to create sector groups that include lawyers with different legal/tax specialisations focusing on particular business sectors. We believe that with the sector group approach we are better equipped to help our clients and cooperation partners succeed, which has always been our first and foremost goal,” says Aku Sorainen, founder and senior partner of the firm.
According to Laimonas Skibarka, office managing partner at SORAINEN Lithuania, after analysing the experience and best practices of various international law firms and a pilot project in Vilnius office in 2013, six sector groups were rolled out across all four offices at the beginning of this year. The sector approach is also appreciated by international law firms, which show an interest in cooperating with SORAINEN through sector groups rather than just legal practice areas.
“Most of our 160 legal professionals have joined one or several of the first six sector groups. For our lawyers and tax advisers this means not only professional development – as with sector focus they can provide more strategic and commercial advice – it is also an opportunity to become a sector group leader or otherwise take an active role in developing the sector focus in the firm,” says Aku Sorainen.
Viewed from a broader perspective, the introduction of sector groups means that SORAINEN has entered a new level in the development of law firm organisation, where professionals also specialise by business sectors rather than just areas of law and tax.
