OREANDA-NEWS. October 27, 2014. Metsa Wood, Metsa Group's wood products business area, initiates a performance improvement programme, which comprises sales growth projects, cost savings and structural changes, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

As part of the programme, the need for personnel reduction has been estimated to be approximately 200 man-years in total, of which 140 would take place in Finland.

The reductions in personnel are planned to be implemented in stages over the next two years. Reductions in production personnel are projected to materialise mainly through retirements.

Metsa Wood provides wood products for construction, industry and distributor partners. Metsa Wood’s sales were Euro 897 million in 2013. Metsa Wood is part of Metsa Group.
