OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2014. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko instructed to include products of state enterprise "Production Association O.M. Makarov Southern Machine-Building Plant" in the state defense order for 2015.

"I instruct to make amendments to the state defense order and initiate funding of production of precision weapons, cruise missiles and tactical weapons," the Head of State said in the course of the working visit to Dnipropetrovsk.

Petro Poroshenko noted that state defense order for precision weapons had been terminated since 2009. "We must be confident that our army, our Armed Forces and their equipment meet the best world standards," he said. According to the President, after the visit to the plant, he was convinced that there were grounds for such confidence.

In the course of the inspection of production capacities of the plant and communication with its workers, the Head of State expressed belief that Ukraine should regain the status of space country, for "the state has something to be proud of and has achievements developed by "Pivdenmash".

"We have found ourselves in a difficult situation. You know that our space products have been developed in cooperation with Russia. Now all shipments have been terminated, but in such difficult conditions board and staff of the plant have found opportunities and are ready to offer their services to the whole world," the President said.

According to Petro Poroshenko, the enterprise has joint projects with Brazil and pilot projects with USA. Cooperation with Turkey is also promising.
