TGC-1 Completes First Stage of Pipeline Renovation in Petrozavodsk
OREANDA-NEWS. October 20, 2014, the TGC-1 energy workers completed the first of three stages in a large-scale heating network renovation in Anokhina St. in the centre of Petrozavodsk and opened the section between Lenina Pr. and Pervomaysky Pr. and Anokhina St. to Krasnaya St. for car traffic. The main transit network was completely replaced starting from Pavilion No.3 on Shotman St. and 9, Studenchesky Per. over the Neglinka River along Anokhina-Krasnaya St. up to the crossing with Lenina Pr.
The heat pipeline section under renovation is of a major social importance - its completion will provide secure and uninterruptable heat supply for 150 000 consumers in Petrozavodsk. These include households of Kukkovka, Golikovka, Zareka, Oktyabrskiy, Pervomayskiy and many other parts of the city.
In June-October 2014, over 1 km of the heating line was renovated with a one-pipe solution. As a result, installed pipelines have a bigger diameter (800 mm) and a rapid remote control system.
In addition, a reconstruction was carried out on four heating chambers, the Pavilion No.3 incl. replacement of all of the building parts, isolation valves and pipelines.
"The workers had detected loose soil when replacing heating line under the Anokhina St. traffic lanes by the 'Aura' and 'TsUM' shopping centers", commented Alexander Vdovichenko, Director of the TGC-1 Petrozavodskaya CHPP. "Moreover, there were distribution lines not shown on the city's network maps that had been uncovered and need a replacement. We have installed new enforcement facilities to minimize road collapse. A low storm drain capacity had led to soil erosion and slide thereby bringing pieces of collapsed pavement under the curb. However, we have managed to cope with all difficulties in the heating line construction. We have also improved landscaping for the Petrozavodsk 300 Anniversary Alley by planting trees there and developing a network of walkways and lawns. We are going to plant several larger trees here next year and continue the general improvement of the area".
