DTEK Fully Restores Power to Yasinovataya after Two Months off
OREANDA-NEWS. On 21 October, repair crews of DTEK Donetskoblenergo fully restored electricity supply to Yasinovataya disconnected during the hostilities on 12 August. Now the electricity is back on for 35,000 local residents. Also, the company restored power supply in ten villages and localities of Yasinovataya district.
On 21 October, repair crews of Yasinovataya power networks of DTEK Donetskoblenergo fully restored electricity supply to Yasinovataya, which was disconnected for almost 70 days because of the ongoing hostilities.
For a long time it was impossible to fix the facilities as many power lines were damaged, battles continued and unexploded munitions lay under the power lines. The repairs started only in mid-September. Alongside Yasinovataya, DTEK Donetskoblenergo restored power supply in ten neighbouring localities. However, another seven settlements are still being cut off. The electricity is back on to the settlements of Krutaya Balka, Novobakhmutovka, Novosyolovka 2, Novosyolovka 3, Krinichnoye, Yasinovka, Zemlyanki, Mineralnoye, Yakovlevka and Verkhnetoretskoye.
"We could start the repairs after the parties to the conflict agreed on local ceasefire in mid-September," said Chair of Yasinovataya power networks of DTEK Donetskoblenergo Dmitry Pyzhov. "Yet the situation hasn't really improved since then as the shelling continues and our repair teams often have to come back even before they have reached the damaged power facilities. We had to supply power to some of the localities more than once. Thus, we returned electricity to the villages of Verkhnetroitskoye and Novobakhmutovka on 20 September but in two days the power lines were damaged again and we had to repair them again on 25 September."
The settlements of Krasny Partizan, Spartak, Vesyoloye, Novogrigoryevka, Vasilyevka, Lebyazhye and Ryasnoye are still cut off. The repair crews are working to get the electricity back on to these localities. It is impossible to start repairs in the villages of Spartak and Vesyoloye because of the ongoing military operations. The villages have been de-energised for almost 100 days now.
