BPS Becomes Leaseholder of Customs Warehouses at Brazil's Paranagua
OREANDA-NEWS. Belarus Potash Company (BPC) has signed an agreement with Brazil's Rocha Terminais Portuarios e Logistica to become a leaseholder of customs cargoes and cargo processing facilities at Brazil's Paranagua port.
Under the new contract, BPC has already shipped to Brazil 25,000 tonnes of granulated potash.
Paranagua is the gateway for some 40% of the total volume of potash chloride imported to Brazil.
The company views customs warehouses in Paranagua as a significant competitive advantage, as BPC can sell its products from customs warehouses to some other states of Brazil without paying any extra duties.
Brazil's Rocha specializes in storing and processing bulk cargoes.
The Russian fertilizer producer Uralkali in February 2014 paid U.S. USD 30 million for a 25% stake in Equiplan Participacoes S.A., the main shareholder in Brazil's Terminais Portuarios da Ponta do Felix.
Brazil currently imports around 94% of the total volume of potash fertilizers used the in the country. The major fertilizer suppliers are Canada's Canpotex, BPC, Russia's Uralkali and Sermany's K+S Kali.
