OMK Holds in Vyksa Science and Practice Conference
OREANDA-NEWS. At the 7th OMK Science and Practice Conference, young experts from United Metallurgical Company (OMK CJSC, based in Moscow) presented their projects which were aimed at improving production technology with a view to reduce expenses and to increase factory profitability. The conference took place in Vyksa (Nizhny Novgorod region) on October 15-16, 2014.
Over a hundred employees of OMK factories participated in the conference alongside representatives of the Bardin Central Science and Research Institute for Ferrous Metallurgy, Vyksa-based affiliates of the Moscow Steel and Alloys University, and the Alexeyev Nizhny Novgorod Technical University. They presented 79 reports on nine themed sections which dealt with the production of pipes, steel, rolled metal, railway wheels, and others.
"Participating in a science and practice conference provides a good opportunity for young company specialists to make themselves known and to utilize the successful experience of their peers. The number of participants and presentations is growing every year. As a rule, the majority of the innovative projects and ideas are put into practice at OMK factories," said Pavel Stepanov, Chairman of the Conference's Expert Committee and Director of the Engineering and Technology Center at Vyksa Steel Works (VSW Open Joint Stock Company, based in Nizhny Novgorod, part of OMK).
Winner and runner-up reports were chosen in each themed section of the conference. Their authors received cash prizes. The Expert Committee also gave out an award for the best innovative project and idea. The prize fund reached upwards of 400,000 rubles.
