OREANDA-NEWS. October 21, 2014. The steel structure installation of TISCO’s technological transformation project of steels for high-speed railway application that started at June of 2013 now entered the final phase. When completed, TISCO will become the production base of key steel materials for China high-speed railway applications, such as axle steel and wheel steel, which will change the history that the axle and wheel products for China High-speed railway rely on imports and make great contribution to the complete localization of the key equipment of high speed railway.
 
The technological transformation project of steels for high-speed railway applications is a key project in TISCO’s “Twelfth Five-Year” plan. In order to meet the requirements of the development of China high-speed railway, TISCO, under the circumstance of without increasing new capacity, makes technological transformation to its existing carbon steel production lines, which will eliminate the backward production facilities, reduce the energy consumption, improve the quality, increase the benefit and substitute for the imported goods. After the completion of the project, it will produce high end, special series products including wheel steel, axle steel, gas cylinder steel, oil well steel, heavy machinery steel, steel for HP boilers, alloy die steels, non-magnetic steel and steels for military industry, will be the first special steel production base with advanced, safe energy saving and environmental friendly technology and equipment in China.
 
TISCO is committed to developing and producing the axle, wheel, rail car and rail wagon steels for railway applications and the steels for urban rail transit. Its new stainless steel material for rail wagons have been used in more than 30000 heavy duty railway wagons that run on Datong-Qinhuangdao Railway and Jining-Tongliao Railway, the domestic market share of TISCO’s axle and wheel steels has remained around more than 90%, TISCO’s new stainless steel materials are widely used in the manufacture of the railcar body of urban rail transit in Beijing, Chengdu, Xi’an, Shenyang, Shenzhen etc and completely substituted for the imported ones.
 
In recent years, TISCO has cooperated closely with domestic scientific and research institutions and railway departments, overcome a series of major technological difficulties and successfully developed axle and wheel steels for high-speed railway and CRH, their properties and quality are as good as the imported products.
