OREANDA-NEWS.  October 20, 2014. A delegation of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) led by Deputy Head of FAS, Andrey Kashevarov, took part in the events of the European Competition Day in Rome organized by of Italy’s Competition Authority.

Attendees included Vice-Commissioner of the European Commission, Competition Commissioner of the Directorate General for Competition, Joaquin Almunia, the Minister of Italy for Economic Development, Federica Guidi, and the heads of antimonopoly authorities of Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria and Romania.

Participants of the European Competition Day discussed current achievements of national competition authorities in antimonopoly enforcement, as well as difficulties they face in their efforts. In particular, Joaquin Almunia drew attention to such pressing problem as e-trading.

Overall, the Conference had a unanimous opinion that to suppress unfair practices, especially of cross-border nature, coordination and cooperation between competition authorities must be strengthened.
